I love this. The sky adds to the Mordor-like gloom and the wide angle makes my eyes sweep across it looking for details. Sad too, of course, yet this land has probably been replanted several times over the years. Might have grown hops or tobacco decades before the fruit trees went in…

Nifty reflections. I’d feel pretty lost without a telephoto…but maybe I just wouldn’t pay attention to distant scenes as much. Like when I go out with my macro lens on and no camera bag, of course I come back having noticed only macro shots.

Easy for everyone else to shove us out the door on a grand adventure…they’re not the ones laying out life savings, shepherding angry children, then returning broke, unemployed and homeless.

Maybe he didn’t know, but there’s something to be said for starting out on journeys even when you don’t know where they’ll lead…great shot.
